Here at St Andrew’s Community Chapel, we are serious about our ministry towards young people from their early adolescence. In the second half of 2008, Giants teachers and Youth Advisors mooted the idea of creating a new Junior Youth Ministry that will be concurrent with Sunday 9 a.m. services to cater to young people aged 11-14. Hence, CLAY was launched on 12 Oct 2008. From 2016, the age group of CLAYers had been extended to cater to 11-16 year-olds.
The purpose of CLAY is to impact CLAYers to honour God with their lives, serve Him and others, accept everyone in God’s family, and reach out to other youths, in becoming the disciples of Jesus Christ. To achieve our purpose for CLAYers, the curriculum is based on 3 main pillars, namely ‘Foundations of faith’, ‘Christian Living’ and ‘Practical Life Application Topics’. Our weekly programme includes icebreaker, praise and worship, scripture reading and mini sermon, small group time and prayer, and game. Other programme complementing the weekly programme to achieve the curriculum objectives include outings, games days, board games day, camps, overnighter, involvement in the Diocesan Youth Board programme, and the annual outreach to the members of Simei Care Centre.
We welcome all young people aged 11-16 to join in our programme. We also welcome baptised and confirmed SACC members who have a passion for young people (pastoral recommendation required) to serve alongside us as group leaders, youth mentors, and teachers.
